Grizzlies vs. Suns Pick
Do the Memphis Grizzlies have enough in the tank to down the host Phoenix Suns with both being on the second leg of a back-to-back? Game time is 9PM ET.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Grizzlies are listed as a 1-point favorite on the spread line. The over-under sits at 205 points.
Memphis enters with a 9-22 overall record and 10-20-1 ATS after a 97-84 loss at the Warriors. Phoenix enters with a 11-22 record and 16-16-1 ATS following a 108-95 loss at the Clippers. The Grizzlies went 3-0 straight up and 3-0 ATS in three meetings last season. The over went 2-1.
In the loss at Golden State, Marc Gasol highlighted the Grizzlies with 21 points. He added nine rebounds, five assists and two steals. Tyreke Evans contributed 10 points, six rebounds, six assists and two steals. Jarrell Martin had 10 points and four rebounds off the bench. Ben McLeMore also scored 10 as a reserve. The Grizzlies trailed 56-51 at halftime and were outscored in every quarter.
TJ Warren led the Suns in the loss at Los Angeles with 22 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Josh Jackson accounted for 17 points, four rebounds and two blocked shots. Marquese Chriss added 13 points and eight boards. Phoenix trailed 53-35 at halftime.
Memphis is 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings. The under is 9-3 in the last 12 meetings in Phoenix.
The Grizzlies had the much tougher road matchup Wednesday night, although the Warriors are not quite the same without several key players. Phoenix laid an egg in the first half of a game that was expected to be more competitive. As it was, both contests were decided by 13 points. Anyway, Memphis has the two best active players in this matchup in Gasol and Evans. As long as neither are rested in the back-to-back, I'd have to side with Memphis here. The Grizzlies have had great success recently against Phoenix and even though they have fallen on rough times, this is a game where things should be tilted in their favor.
