Nets winners of six straight
As hard as it may be to believe, the Brooklyn Nets are one of the hottest teams in the NBA, having won six straight and covered in seven. They are coming off a 115-110 win over the Lakers last night at home. Brooklyn is 14-18 on the season, 7-8 on the road, 17-15 against the spread and 16-16 with the over/under total.
The Nets are climbing up the ranks in offense, now averaging 111.1 points per game, which ranks 14th in the league. They also shoot 35.8 percent from the arc, which ranks 10th in the NBA. Defensively, the News are giving up 111.8 points per game while opponents shoot 47 percent from the field. D’Angelo Russell is leading the team with 18.1 points and 6.3 assists per game while Spencer Dinwiddie is adding 17.2 points and 5.0 assists per contest.
Bulls continue to plunge
The Bulls are coming off a 121-96 loss at Oklahoma City on Monday night for their fourth loss in five games. Chicago is now 7-24 on the season, 4-11 at home, 14-17 against the spread and 20-10-1 with the under.
Chicago ranks 30th in the league in scoring right now, averaging 101.2 points per game while shooting just 44.1 percent from the field. Defensively, the Bulls give up 112 points per game and opponents shoot 46 percent from the floor and 36 percent from the arc. Zach LaVine is out indefinitely with an ankle injury while Jabari Parker is questionable with an illness. Those two are averaging a combined 39.0 points and 11.8 rebounds per game. Lauri Markkanen is leading the active roster with 15.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Brooklyn
The Nets have covered the spread in 35 of their last 52 road games, but are just 1-7 ATS in their last eight when playing on no rest.
Chicago
The Bulls are 3-13 against the spread in their last 16 against Atlantics Division opponents and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games playing on one day of rest.
Prediction:
The Nets are playing very well right now and have been able to do it on the road, as well as at home. The Bulls are just a mess all around and they don’t have many great offensive weapons with LaVine out and Parker not feeling well. The Nets are playing at a high level on offense and I think Chicago is going to have trouble keeping pace with that.
NBA Prediction: Brooklyn Nets -1.5
