Wizards end skid

Washington put an end to a four-game losing streak on Sunday with a 128-110 win at home over the Lakers. Still, they are just 1-4 overall and against the spread in their last five. The Wizards are 12-18 on the season, 4-12 on the road, 12-18 against the spread and 19-11 with the over.

The Wizards are struggling a great deal on defense, allowing 116.9 points per game while allowing opponents to shoot 47.2 percent from the field and 36.7 percent from the arc. On offense, Washington puts up 112.8 points per game while shooting 46.5 percent from the floor. The team just traded for Trevor Ariza, who could be making his team debut tonight. Bradley Beal is leading the team with 23.2 points per game while John Wall is adding 21.5 points and 8.9 assists per contest.

Hawks a mess

Atlanta has lost three straight and seven of its last eight following a 144-127 loss at Brooklyn on Sunday. The Hawks are now 6-23 on the season, 4-9 at home, 11-18 against the spread and 17-12 with the over.

The Hawks haven’t been able to get on track on either side of the ball. The defense is allowing 119.3 points per game while opponents shoot 38 percent from the arc. Offensively, Atlanta puts up 108.5 points per game and shoots just 32.5 percent from the arc. Taurean Prince and Miles Plumlee are both out until later this month due to injuries. John Collins is leading the team with 18.5 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. Rookie Trae Young added 15.4 points and 7.2 assists per contest.

NBA Betting Trends

Washington

The Wizards are 5-22 against the spread in their last 27 road games and they have failed to cover in four straight in Eastern Conference games.

Atlanta

The Hawks are 2-7 against the spread in their last nine home games. They are also 1-5 ATS in their last six games following a loss.

Prediction:

It’s hard to feel good about either team. Washington has the better talent, but is on the road. They did pick up a 14-point win at Atlanta back on Dec. 5, though. The addition of Ariza could provide Washington a boost, but it isn’t likely to take off right from the start. Still, Washington has the better talent over Atlanta and the Hawks just aren’t scoring consistently. I expect the Wizards to be able to do enough in this game to win and cover, though it may not be an impressive performance.

NBA Prediction: Washington Wizards -3.5
