Spurs go to OT again
San Antonio played in its third straight overtime game on Thursday night, suffering a surprising 117-109 loss at home to the Cavaliers. The Spurs are 9-15 on the season, 2-8 away from home, 6-18 against the spread and 14-10 with the over.
The Spurs have struggled all year with defense, which used to be a franchise strength. They are giving up 115.5 points per game this season while opponents shoot 46.8 percent against them. Offensively, San Antonio is putting up 111.5 points per game while shooting 46.6 percent as a squad. DeMar DeRozan is leading the Spurs this year with 21.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. LaMarcus Aldridge is adding 18.8 points and 7.1 rebounds per contest.
Suns unable to get momentum
The Phoenix Suns have alternated wins and losses over their last seven games. They are coming off a 115-108 loss at home to the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night. Phoenix is 11-13 on the season, 5-5 away from home, 14-10 against the spread and 14-10 with the over.
The Suns are putting up 115.4 points per game on offense this year while shooting 45.9 percent as a team. Defensively, the Suns are giving up 114 points per game, while opponents shoot 47.2 percent against them. Devin Booker is leading Phoenix with 25 points, 3.9 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game while Kelly Oubre Jr. is adding 17.4 points and 6.3 rebounds per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
San Antonio
The Spurs are 1-4 against the spread in their last five road games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games as an underdog.
Phoenix
The Suns are 9-4 against the spread in their last 13 games following a loss, but just 2-5 ATS in their last seven games as a favorite.
Prediction:
These two have yet to meet this season, but the Spurs have owned the Suns in previous years. However, Phoenix is trying to make something of this season and they can build some momentum with DeAndre Ayton returning to the team next week. The Spurs just haven’t been reliable this year. They have some good games and then have some awful ones. Their lack of defense is an issue and it will be a problem against a Phoenix team that can definitely score. The Spurs have the ability to score on Phoenix as well, but I feel like the Suns are a hungrier team right now.
NBA Prediction: Phoenix Suns -2.5
