Nets banged up

Already without Kevin Durant for the year, the Nets are currently without Caris LeVert and Kyrie Irving as well right now due to injuries. Brooklyn is coming off a 113-108 loss at home to the Charlotte Hornets. That loss ended a five-game cover streak for Brooklyn. The Nets are 13-11 on the season, 6-6 on the road, 13-11 against the spread and 12-11-1 with the under.

The Nets are putting up 112.4 points per game this season on offense, while shooting 45.2 percent from the field. Defensively, Brooklyn is giving up 112.9 points per game, while opponents shoot 44.2 percent against them. Irving was leading the team with 28.5 points per game. Spencer Dinwiddie is the current leader with 20.8 points and 6.2 assists per game, while Jarrett Allen is adding 12.7 points and 10.5 rebounds per contest.

Raptors in a funk

Toronto is coming off a 112-92 loss at home to the Clippers and the Raptors have lost four of their last five games coming in, while failing to cover in five straight. Toronto is 16-8 on the season, 9-3 at home, 13-11 against the spread and 12-11-1 with the over.

The Raptors are putting up 110.8 points per game on offense this season while shooting 44.9 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from the arc. Defensively, Toronto is giving up just 105.5 points per game while holding opponents to 41.5 percent shooting. Pascal Siakam is leading the team with 24.5 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists per contest. Kyle Lowry is adding 19.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 6.8 assists per contest.

NBA Betting Trends

Brooklyn

The Nets have covered the spread in seven straight following a failed cover and in four straight following a loss.

Toronto

The Raptors are 10-4 against the spread in their last 14 games as a home favorite and 13-6 ATS in their last 19 games as a favorite.

Prediction:

These two have not met this season, but I like the Raptors despite the lofty spread. Toronto has struggled as of late, but their last four losses have been against the Clippers, 76ers, Rockets and Heat. Those are four pretty solid teams. The Nets are beat up and just don’t have the depth to deal with the Toronto defense. I expect the Raptors to ware on the Brooklyn offense and that should open the door for a second-half push to cover the spread.

NBA Prediction: Toronto Raptors -7.5
