Blazers in a funk on the road
Portland is coming off a 111-104 loss at Houston last night and they have had their last five road games all be losses by seven or more. Portland is 15-12 on the season, 5-8 on the road, 13-14 against the spread and 14-13 with the over.
The Blazers are averaging 112 points per game on offense, but they rank second in the NBA in rebounding, averaging 49.3 per game. Defensively, Portland is giving up 110.4 points per game while allowing opponents to shoot 36.8 percent from the arc. Portland could be without their best player, as Damian Lillard is listed as questionable with an elbow injury. He is averaging 27.5 points and 6.2 assists per game this season. CJ McCollum is averaging 21.3 points per game.
Grizz trying to avoid losing streak
Memphis is coming off back-to-back losses to the Lakers and the Nuggets and trying to avoid a third straight loss tonight. The Grizzlies are 15-11 overall, 8-4 at home, 15-11 against the spread and 15-11 with the under.
The Grizzlies are one of the best defensive teams in the league, allowing just 102.8 points per game while opponents shoot 44.9 percent from the field. Offensively, Memphis is only putting up 103.3 points per contest while shooting 45.6 percent from the floor. Guard Mike Conley is questionable for this game with a hamstring injury. Conley is averaging 20.2 points and 6.5 assists per game. Marc Gasol is adding 16.7 points and 8.8 rebounds per game.
NBA Betting Trends
Portland
The Blazers are just 2-9 against the spread in their last 11 games overall and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 conference games.
Memphis
The Grizzlies have covered the spread in four straight Wednesday games and 11 of their last 15 home games.
Prediction:
Both teams could be short-handed, but I think the Blazers will feel the Lillard injury more. Lillard is a huge piece to Portland. Conley is the leading scorer for Memphis, but the Grizzlies have better balance and better defense. Portland has shown it doesn’t play well on the road while Memphis has been steady at home. I will trust a consistent defense at home than a team with a strong offense going on the road.
NBA Prediction: Memphis Grizzlies -3
