Public Betting Trends

According to the latest oddsmakers, Los Angeles is favored on the road, as the Lakers are getting odds of -7 points against the Magic. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 213 points. The public betting currently has 93 percent going on the Lakers as the road favorite. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our NBA Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.

Lakers rolling

The Lakers have won four straight, including three on the road, coming into tonight. Their last contest was a 142-125 win at home over Minnesota. Los Angeles is 21-3 on the season, 11-1 on the road, 15-9 against the spread and 13-11 with the under.

Los Angeles has been solid on both sides of the ball. The offense is putting up 114.5 points per game while shooting 49 percent from the field and 37 percent from the arc. Defensively, the Lakers are allowing just 104.6 points per game while holding opponents to 43.7 percent shooting. Anthony Davis is averaging 27.7 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game to lead the Lakers. LeBron James is adding 25.9 points, 10.8 assists and 6.8 rebounds per contest.

Magic see win streak end

The Orlando Magic had their four-game win streak come to an end on Monday night in a 110-101 loss at Milwaukee. Orlando did cover in the loss and have covered the spread in four straight coming into tonight. The Magic are 11-12 on the season, 8-4 at home, 10-12-1 against the spread and 12-10-1 with the under.

Orlando is a good defensive team, allowing just 103 points per game, while holding opponents to 43 percent shooting. On offense, the Magic are putting up 103 points per game while shooting 44.9 percent from the floor. Evan Fournier is leading Orlando with 20 points and 3.2 assists per game, while Aaron Gordon is adding 13.7 points and 6.8 rebounds per contest.

NBA Betting Trends

Los Angeles

The Lakers are 4-1 against the spread in their last five road games, but just 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games as a road favorite.

The Magic are 1-4 against the spread in their last five home games, but 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following a loss.

These two teams haven’t met this season, but the Magic have covered the spread in four straight against the Lakers. The Lakers are certainly playing well right now, but you have to be concerned about them being such a big favorite on the road as they head out East. Their previous road games that delve more toward the East were a failed cover at Chicago, a failed cover at New Orleans and a failed cover at Memphis. This is the first time the Lakers are touching down on the East coast. While Orlando lacks a lot of star power right now, I think their style of play may be able to keep this game close. Fewer possessions and travel could impact the Los Angeles offense and not allow them to really get into a good flow tonight. I will take my chances on the Magic getting points at home.

NBA Prediction: Orlando Magic +7
