Pistons trying to heat up

Detroit has won three of its last four games thanks to a 108-101 win at home over Indiana on Friday night. The Pistons are 10-13 on the season, 2-9 on the road, 9-13-1 against the spread and 13-10 with the over.

The Pistons are struggling offensively this year, averaging just 108.7 points per game despite shooting 47.2 percent as a team from the field and 39.6 percent from the arc. Defensively, Detroit is allowing 108.5 points per game while opponents shoot 46.6 percent against them. Blake Griffin is leading Detroit with 19.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. Andre Drummond is adding 17.7 points and 17.0 rebounds per contest.

Pelicans on major slide

New Orleans has lost eight straight games coming into tonight, including a 130-84 loss at Dallas on Saturday. The Pelicans have only covered the spread in one of those eight losses. New Orleans is 6-17 on the season, 4-8 at home, 9-14 against the spread and 12-11 with the under.

New Orleans has been one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA this year. The Pelicans are giving up 120.2 points per game while opponents shoot 47.5 percent against them. Offensively, New Orleans is averaging 113.2 points per game while shooting 45 percent as a team. Brandon Ingram is leading the team with 24.6 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. Jrue Holiday is adding 19.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 6.7 assists per contest.

NBA Betting Trends

Detroit

The Pistons are just 3-12-1 against the spread in their last 16 road games and 8-21-3 ATS in their last 32 games as a road underdog.

New Orleans

The Pelicans are just 3-8 against the spread in their last 11 games as a favorite and 2-9 ATS in their last 11 as a home favorite.

Prediction:

These two haven’t met this season, but the road team has won three straight and covered in the last four between the two. The Pistons are warming up a little bit as Griffin continues to get his legs under him and they definitely have more talent on paper than New Orleans. The Pelicans haven’t been able to get their year going without Zion Williamson getting in on the act. Lately, they haven’t even been competitive. I think Detroit can control the paint in this game and dictate the pace of play. The Pistons still have expectations to be a playoff team this year while the Pelicans already feel like they are mailing it in for next season. I will take Detroit with some points in this one.

NBA Prediction: Detroit Pistons +1.5
