Grizzlies flip flopping

The Memphis Grizzlies have alternated wins and losses over their last four games. They are coming off a 96-86 win at home over the Clippers on Wednesday. The Grizzlies are 14-9 overall, 6-6 on the road, 14-9 against the spread and 13-10 with the under. They are just 2-4 against the spread in their last six.

Memphis is pretty solid on defense this year, allowing 102.3 points per game this season. Opponents are shooting just 44.7 percent from the field. On offense, Memphis is only putting up 104.0 points per contest, which ranks 27th in the NBA. They also rank 30th in rebounding, averaging 39.7 per game. Mike Conley is averaging 21.1 points and 6.5 assists per game to lead the team while Marc Gasol is adding 17.4 points and 9.3 rebounds per contest.

Pelicans struggling for consistency

The New Orleans Pelicans are coming off a 132-106 win over the Mavericks. They have also alternated wins and losses over their last six games. New Orleans is now 13-13 overall, 10-3 at home, 12-14 against the spread and 16-10 with the over. New Orleans is just 2-5 ATS in its last seven games.

The Pelicans have one of the top offenses in the league, averaging 118.7 points per game, which ranks second in the NBA. They are also shooting 48.2 percent as a team. Defensively, the Pelicans are giving up 116.3 points per game while allowing opponents to shoot 46.7 percent from the field. Anthony Davis is listed as questionable for tonight’s game with an ankle injury while Nikola Mirotic is probable as he deals with an illness. Davis is averaging 27.9 points, 12.6 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game this year while Mirotic puts up 18.9 points and 10 rebounds per game.

NBA Betting Trends

The Grizzlies are 5-1 against the spread in their last six conference games and 15-7 ATS in their last 22 games following a win.

New Orleans

New Orleans has failed to cover in four straight Friday games, but is 20-9 ATS in its last 29 conference games.

The Pelicans have more talent, especially on offense. They should have Davis available, because there are no reports indicating he won’t play. He will be the difference makers as the Memphis defense will struggle to stop him. If Memphis can’t stop Davis, it’s going to severely hurt their ability to win. The Grizzlies will need to keep the total low to win and I don’t see that happening in a home game for these Pelicans.

NBA Prediction: New Orleans Pelicans -5.5
