Spurs in a funk
The Spurs were manhandled last night in a 139-105 loss at Utah for its third loss in four games. San Antonio is 11-13 on the season, 4-9 on the road, 11-13 against the spread and 15-8-1 with the over. They are just 1-4 ATS in their last five games.
San Antonio has been struggling on defense, allowing 113.4 points per game while allowing opponents to shoot 48.6 percent from the field and 37.3 percent from the arc. Offensively, San Antonio is putting up 109.2 points per game while shooting 45.8 percent from the field. DeMar DeRozan has been leading the team with 24 points, 5.6 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game while LaMarcus Aldridge is adding 18.2 points and 10.2 rebounds per contest.
Lakers on a win streak
Los Angeles is on a three-game win streak coming into tonight following a 120-96 victory over the Suns on Sunday. L.A. is now 14-9 on the season, 9-4 at home, 10-13 against the spread and 15-7-1 with the under. The Lakers have also covered the spread in three straight.
The Lakers have been solid on offense this year despite not being a great 3-point shooting team. They are putting up 112.7 points per contest while shooting 47.6 percent from the floor. Defensively, the Lakers are giving up 111 points per contest while allowing opponents to shoot 44.6 percent from the floor. Despite being without Rajon Rondo due to a hand injury, the Lakers are still playing quite well. LeBron James is averaging 27.8 points. 7.7 rebounds and 6.7 assists per game. Kyle Kuzma is adding 16.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
San Antonio
The Spurs are 6-17 against the spread in their last 23 road games and 1-5 ATS in their last six Conference games.
Los Angeles
The Lakers are 5-1 against the spread in their last six home games and 5-1 ATS in their last six Conference games.
Prediction:
I keep expecting the Spurs to get on track but last night was an abysmal performance. Now they have no rest before heading to Los Angeles to play a Lakers team that is growing in confidence each day. LeBron has Los Angeles making strides and I expect them to be ready to attack the Spurs early tonight. The Lakers have the fresh legs and the confidence while the Spurs have to be doubting themselves. With San Antonio struggling on defense, I will take the Lakers minus the points.
NBA Prediction: Los Angeles Lakers -8.5
