Spurs stumble again

San Antonio lost 138-132 at Washington Wednesday night to drop to 5-10 overall and 1-6 on the road. The Spurs were outscored 75-63 in the second half of the defeat. DeMar DeRozan paced San Antonio with 31 points on 9-of-13 shooting plus 13-of-17 at the free throw line. He also recorded five assists and four rebounds. Bryn Forbes tallied 19 points, seven assists, four boards and two steals. Rudy Gay had 18 points, five caroms and three assists off the bench. Patty Mills accounted for 16 points, six rebounds and two assists. Dejounte Murray registered 15 points, five caroms, three steals and two assists as a reserve. LaMarcus Aldridge accumulated 12 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and three blocked shots. Jakob Poeltl had 11 points, five boards, three blocks and two assists. Sixers get past Knicks

Philadelphia secured a 109-104 home victory Wednesday night over New York to improve to 9-5 overall and 5-0 at home. The 76ers outscored the Knicks 35-25 in the fourth quarter to overcome a deficit. Joel Embiid led Philadelphia with 23 points on 7-of-19 shooting including 1-of-7 from 3-point range plus 8-of-12 at the free throw line. He also registered 12 rebounds and five assists. Ben Simmons accounted for 18 points including the first regular season made 3-pointer of his career plus 13 assists and seven boards. Tobias Harris had 14 points, four caroms and four assists. NBA Betting Trends

San Antonio

The Spurs are 39-17-1 ATS in their last 57 Friday games. San Antonio is 1-4 ATS in its last five road games.

Philadelphia

The Sixers are 2-5 ATS in their last seven Friday games. Philadelphia is 1-5 ATS in its last six games overall.

Prediction:

The 76ers have shaken off a slump with a couple wins in a row, even if they did make it tough on themselves by having to rally in the fourth quarter past New York. Philadelphia has yet to lose at home and I think it can take advantage of a slumping San Antonio team that is decidedly worse away from home. The spread is a little wide, but I can see the Sixers having it fairly easy and covering here. Take the team playing the better basketball at the moment.
