Can the host Detroit Pistons cover the spread this afternoon when it plays the Miami Heat? Tip-off is at 4PM ET.

According to oddsmakers at Bovda.lv, the Pistons area 3-point favorite on the spread line. The over-under is set at 202 points.

Miami enters play with a 6-6 record after an 84-74 victory at the Jazz. Detroit is now 9-3 following a 111-104 home win over the Hawks, their fourth triumph in a row. The four meetings were split 2-2 straight up last season and the Pistons were 3-1 ATS. The over went 3-1.

The Heat were led by Dion Waiters with 21 points in the win at Utah. Hassan Whiteside had eight points and 20 rebounds. Goran Dragic added 18 points. Miami outscored the hosts 47-25 in the second half.

Andre Drummond accounted for 16 points, 20 rebounds and a career-best seven assists in the win over Atlanta. Avery Bradley contributed 20 points and four rebounds. Reggie Jackson scored a team-best 22 points and dished out six assists. Detroit led 57-41 at halftime and held on from there.

Miami is 1-5 ATS in its last six meetings in Detroit. The Pstons are 6-1 ATS in their last seven Sunday games.

Bet on Heat vs. Pistons 

The Pistons are perhaps the NBA's most surprising team this season, thanks to the resurgence of Drummond and strong team defense. But the Heat match up well with Detroit, which is down for a down performance. Look for the Heat to cover the spread here as Whiteside wins the battle in the interior with Drummond, while Dragic outplays Jackson.
