Raptors lose Ibaka, Lowry
Toronto earned a 122-104 victory Friday night at New Orleans but lost point guard Kyle Lowry and power forward Serge Ibaka to injuries that will keep them out a while. The Raptors (6-2, 2-2 on road) led 75-53 at halftime en route to the win. Pascal Siakam paced Toronto by matching his career-high with 44 points on 17-of-28 shooting including 5-of-10 from 3-point range plus 5-of-5 at the free throw line. He also contributed 10 rebounds and four assists. OG Anunoby tallied 21 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Norman Powell had 18 points and four rebounds off the bench. Fred VanVleet added 12 points, 11 assists, five rebounds and two steals.
Lakers win seventh straight
Los Angeles cruised to a 95-80 home victory Friday night over Miami to improve to 7-1 overall and 4-0 at home. The Lakers led by three at halftime before outscoring the Heat 30-20 in the third quarter to take full control. Anthony Davis paced LA with 26 points on 11-of-17 shooting plus 4-of-4 at the free throw line. He also accounted for eight rebounds, seven assists, three blocked shots and two steals. LeBron James added 25 points, six dimes and four boards.
NBA Betting Trends
Toronto
The Raptors are 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven games versus the Western Conference. Toronto is 6-2 ATS in its last eight road games.
Los Angeles
The Lakers are 5-0 ATS in their last five Sunday games. Los Angeles is 6-1 ATS in its last seven games overall.
Prediction:
Los Angeles has been on a roll and the Raptors have a couple key players out, but I am going to subscribe to the Patrick Ewing Theory for this one. Toronto still has a number of capable players that were part of the championship roster a year ago such as the versatile Siakam and VanVleet. I'm going to roll with the points here as I think Toronto is being viewed a little too harshly under the circumstances.
