Sixers edged at Jazz

Philadelphia suffered a 106-104 defeat Wednesday night at Utah to drop to 5-2 overall and 3-2 on the road. The 76ers outscored the Jazz 31-22 in the fourth quarter but could not rally all the way back. Joel Embiid paced Philadelphia with 27 points on 5-of-16 shooting including 1-of-5 from 3-point range plus 16-of-18 at the free throw line. He also tallied 16 points, three assists and two blocked shots. Josh Richardson had 24 points, four boards, four assists and three steals. Tobias Harris registered 16 points, seven caroms and three assists. Raul Neto added 11 points, four dimes, three rebounds and three steals off the bench.

Nuggets blast Heat

Denver earned a 109-89 victory at home over Miami Wednesday night to improve to 5-2 overall and 2-1 at home. The Nuggets led by one after one quarter and then proceeded to outscore the Heat a combined 60-41 over the next two quarters. Jamal Murray paced Denver with 21 points on 9-of-15 shooting including 1-of-2 from 3-point range plus 3-of-4 at the charity stripe. He also had five rebounds, four assists and two steals. Will Barton contributed 15 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Jerami Grant accounted for 15 points, five caroms, three assists and two steals off the bench. Monte Morris contributed 11 points, eight assists and two rebounds as a reserve. Paul Millsap registered 10 points, five boards and three assists. Mason Plumlee added 10 points, seven boards, three assists and two steals off the bench.

NBA Betting Trends

The Sixers are 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine games overall. Philadelphia is 1-4 ATS in its last five Friday games.

Denver

The Nuggets are 4-1 ATS in their last five Friday games. Denver is 4-1 ATS in its last five games playing on two days of rest.

Prediction:

Denver has been able to rest at home, whereas the 76ers have been traveling from one city to the next. The Nuggets have a big home advantage with the thin air and while Philly will certainly win a whole bunch of games this season, I see it coming out flat here after a couple tough road losses already.
