Blazers stunned by Warriors
Despite being a double-digit favorite Monday night at Golden State, Portland fell by a 127-118 score to drop to 3-4 overall and 3-2 on the road. The Trail Blazers were outscored 67-55 in the second half of the loss. Damian Lillard led Portland with 39 points on 15-of-26 shooting including 5-of-13 from 3-point distance plus 4-of-4 at the free throw line. He also notched four assists and two rebounds. Hassan Whiteside tallied 22 points, 11 boards and two blocked shots. C.J. McCollum contributed 14 points and six dimes. Anfernee Simons had 14 points, two rebounds and two steals off the bench. Mario Hezonja added 11 points and five caroms as a reserve.
Clippers fall to Bucks
With Leonard sidelined due to load management, Los Angeles lost 129-124 at home Wednesday night against Milwaukee to drop to 5-3 overall and 4-1 at home. The Clippers trailed 70-59 at halftime and were unable to rally all the way back. Montrezl Harrell led LA with 34 points on 13-of-25 shooting plus 8-of-12 at the charity stripe. He also registered 13 rebounds and five assists. Lou Williams tallied 34 points, 11 dimes and six boards. Patrick Beverley had 20 points, 10 caroms, three assists and two steals. Landry Shamet added 14 points and three rebounds.
NBA Betting Trends
Portland
The Trail Blazers are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games. Portland is 41-20 ATS in its last 61 Thursday games.
Los Angeles
The Clippers are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games. Los Angeles is 0-5 ATS in its last five home meetings versus the Trail Blazers.
Prediction:
Portland has had a lot of success at the Staples Center and have had a couple off days to regroup from the disaster against a depleted Golden State squad. Catching the Clippers on a back-to-back is beneficial, but the part where Leonard is active for this game certainly isn't. It could be worse, however, as Paul George is still out of the lineup rehabbing from shoulder surgery. I think the Blazers come in with a supreme focus and at the very least keep this one close to the end to cover the spread.
