Is the total set too high when the Miami Heat play at the Denver Nuggets Friday night at 9PM EST?

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Nuggets are a 5.5-point favorite on the spread line. The over-under is set at 215 points.

Miami comes in with a 3-4 record after a 97-91 home victory over the Bulls. Denver is 4-4 following a 129-111 home triumph against the Raptors. The two meetings were split 1-1 straight up and ATS last season. The total also went 1-1.

Hassan Whiteside returned to the Heat lineup and contributed 13 points and 14 rebounds in the win over Chicago. Goran Dragic had 20 points, six assists and five rebounds. Dion Waiters put in 13 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Tyler Johnson scored 19 off the bench. Miami outscored the visitors 48-44 in the second half.

Jamal Murray had 24 points to pace Denver in the win over Toronto. Paul Millsap accounted for 20 points and four assists. Nikola Jokic had eight points, 16 rebounds, 10 assists and two blocked shots. Emmanuel Mudiay added 16 points and six assists off the bench. The Nuggets led 60-46 at halftime and then outscored the Raptors 43-25 in the third quarter. 

Miami is 3-8 ATS in its last 11 meetings in Denver. The Heat are 6-16 ATS in the last 22 meetings overall.

Bet on Heat vs. Nuggets

The Heat are healthy again now that Whiteside is back in the fold, which gives them more rim protection and an additional weapon on offense. But heading to Denver where the air is thin might not be the best setting for a player who might not be ready to play a full allotment of minutes. The Heat don't play at a very fast pace and Denver is due for a game where its offense isn't clicking on all cylinders. As hard as it might be to go against the Nuggets' high-powered offense, this is a good spot to do so.
