Nuggets fall at home

Denver lost by a score of 109-106 at home Tuesday night against Dallas to drop to 3-1 overall and 1-1 at home. The Nuggets were outscored 26-18 in the fourth quarter of the defeat. Paul Millsap led Denver with 23 points on 9-of-17 shooting including 4-of-7 from 3-point range and 1-of-1 at the free throw line. He also pulled down eight rebounds. Will Barton accounted for 19 points and 11 boards. Jamal Murray tallied 16 points and six caroms. Gary Harris had 16 points, five rebounds and four dimes. Nikola Jokic added 10 points, 10 boards, 10 assists and three steals. 

Pelicans remain winless

New Orleans suffered a 134-123 home loss Tuesday night against Golden State to drop to 0-4 overall and 0-2 at home. The Pelicans outscored the Warriors 44-31 in the fourth quarter but it was too little too late. Brandon Ingram led New Orleans with 27 points on 10-of-23 shooting including 4-of-9 from 3-point range plus 3-of-5 at the free throw line. He also racked up 10 rebounds, six assists and two steals. Jaxson Hayes accounted for 19 points and three rebounds off the bench. Kenrich Williams had 16 points, six boards, three steals and two assists as a reserve. Nickeil Alexander-Walker tallied 15 points, nine assists and four caroms off the bench. Lonzo Ball contributed 12 points, nine assists, our rebounds and two steals. Jason Hart had 12 points and four rebounds.

Denver couldn't get it done last night, but the going should be easier tonight at a Pelicans squad that might not be at full strength again and even if it has there is not much in the way of defense. The Pelicans can get their buckets and play at a fast tempo, but if they can't get enough stops it will be a long season. The Nuggets are efficient at both ends of the floor and I like them on the road here.
