Pelicans drop second straight without Davis

New Orleans lost a second straight game without oft-injured superstar Anthony Davis Monday night as it fell 116-111 at Denver. Davis is questionable to play tonight at the Warriors with a sprained elbow. Julius Randle led the Pelicans with 24 points off the bench on 8-of-13 shooting with eight rebounds and six assists. E'Twaun Moore contributed 18 points, two rebounds and two assists. Nikola Mirotic recorded 17 points, 10 boards, three steals and two assists. Jrue Holiday registered 16 points, nine assists and eight rebounds. Frank Jackson added 10 points and two rebounds off the bench.

Thompson breaks NBA record in rout

Klay Thompson connected on an NBA record 14 3-pointers Monday night in a 149-124 victory at the Bulls. Thompson was 14-of-24 on 3-point attempts and 18-of-29 from the floor in only 27 minutes of action on his way to the NBA record for 3-pointers in a game, besting teammate Steph Curry's previous record by one. He finished with 52 points along with five rebounds. Curry contributed 23 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals. Alfonzo McKinnie tallied 19 points and 10 boards off the bench. Quinn Cook had 16 points and two boards off the bench. Kevin Durant accounted for 14 points, eight assists and three rebounds. Jonas Jerebko had 10 points, five rebounds and two assists as a reserve. Draymond Green added three points, 11 dimes and six caroms. Golden State improved to 7-1 on the season in the route as it led 92-50 at halftime to coast to the win.

NBA Betting Trends

New Orleans

The Pelicans are 6-0 ATS in their last six games following a straight up loss. New Orleans is 8-1 in its last nine games playing on one day of rest.

Golden State

The over is 4-0 in the last four Warriors games following a straight up win. The over is 6-2 in the last eight meetings in Golden State.

Prediction:

Lines on this game are obviously awaiting the status of Davis. If Davis is out, the Pelicans are as good as cooked. With him in, New Orleans has a fighting shot but I still don't think it will be enough. Golden State has won its last two home games by at least 20 points, while New Orleans is in the middle of a road trip. Go with the home team here. Hard to argue betting on the best team in the NBA.

PREDICTION: GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS
