Jazz send Pelicans to first loss

Utah outscored host New Orleans a combined 74-51 over the second and third quarters Saturday night to roll to a 132-111 victory. Utah is now 3-2 on the season. Ricky Rubio had a big game with 28 points on 8-of-14 shooting to go with 12 assists, six rebounds and a steal. Rudy Gobert tallied 25 points, 14 boards and four blocked shots. Donovan Mitchell had 22 points, six assists and two rebounds. Dante Exum added 11 points and two assists off the bench.

Mavs unable to hang with unbeaten Raptors

Dallas suffered a 116-107 defeat at Toronto Friday night to fall to 2-3 on the season. The Mavericks trailed 69-50 at halftime en route to the loss. Luka Doncic paced Dallas with 22 points on 7-of-14 shooting plus five rebounds and four assists. Wesley Matthews had 21 points and an assist. DeAndre Jordan had 18 points, 15 boards and five assists. Harrison Barnes added 14 points, six rebounds and three assists.

Prediction:

Utah has struggled in back-to-back settings dating back to last season. While the Jazz smashed the Pelicans, Dallas should be the more-rested team even after traveling back from Toronto. The Mavs have been tough at home so far and I think the recipe is right for them to at least cover the spread here if not win outright.
