Phoenix Suns vs. Golden State Warriors 10/22/18, Prediction & Odds

The Phoenix Suns are a big underdog tonight at the powerful Golden State Warriors, but do have the benefit of seeing the defending NBA champions on the second end of a back-to-back. Can Phoenix keep it close enough to at least cover the spread at The Oracle?

Suns falter at Nuggets

Phoenix was outscored a combined 57-28 in the first and fourth quarters Saturday night in a 119-91 loss at Denver. Devin Booker led the way as he scored 25 points, shooting only 5-of-15 from the floor but connecting on 14-of-15 free throws. He added seven assists, two rebounds and a steal. T.J. Warren had 16 points and three rebounds off the bench. Isaiah Canaan contributed 15 points, four boards and two assists. Mikal Bridges added 10 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals as a reserve.

Warriors fall to Nuggets

Golden State also played Denver its last game Sunday night and suffered its first loss of the season with a 100-98 defeat. Steph Curry scored a game-best 30 points on 10-of-23 shooting while adding six assists and four rebounds. The Nuggets went up by 10 heading into the fourth quarter before the Warriors clawed back, but ultimately could not get past the hosts. Kevin Durant contributed 20 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists. Klay Thompson had 15 points and seven rebounds. Kevon Looney added 10 points, six boards and two blocked shots off the bench.

NBA Betting Trends

Phoenix

The Suns are 5-1 ATS in their last six games following a straight up loss. The under is 4-1 in the last five Phoenix games vs. a team with a winning percentage above .600.

Golden State

The Warriors are 7-1-1 ATS in their last nine Monday games. Golden State is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings.

Prediction:

If the Warriors had won yesterday, I might think they would be going through the motions tonight. But after a loss, the Suns feel like a sacrificial lamb. Golden State tends to refocus after a defeat and now being on its home court against a subpar opponent, this one has blowout written all over it.
