Magic vs. Nets Pick
Will the Orlando Magic post a win Friday night over the host Brooklyn Nets? Game time is 7:30PM EST.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Nets are a 1.5-point favorite against the spread. The over-under is set at 226 points.
The Magic are 1-0 on the season after a 116-109 home win over the Heat. The Nets are 0-1 following a 140-131 loss at the Pacers. Orlando won two of three meetings last season with the games going 1-1-1 ATS. The over-under was 2-0-1.
On Wednesday, the Magic received a 23-point night from Evan Fournier to key the offense. Nikola Vucevic contributed a double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds. Terrence Ross had 15 points, six rebounds and four assists. Aaron Gordon added 14 points, nine rebounds and three assists. Orlando outscored Miami a combined 56-41 in the second and third quarters to take control.
The Nets were led by D'Angelo Russell as he tallied 30 points and five assists in his team debut. Jeremy Lin scored 18 points and had four assists in 25 minutes, but ruptured his patella tendon and is lost for the season. Trevor Booker recorded a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. Brooklyn trailed by only two at halftime, but could not recover after being outscored 41-35 in the third.
Orlando is 3-1-1 ATS in the last five meetings with Brooklyn.
The Nets are already minus a very key player in Lin and although they will be fun to watch this season with the up-tempo style, a lot of wins aren't likely even in the weakened Eastern Conference. Look for Orlando's veterans in Vucevic and Fournier take the game over on the road and send the Magic to victory.
