Will the New York Knicks keep it close at the Oklahoma City Thunder Thursday night? Game time is 8PM EST.

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Thunder are a 13-point favorite to win on the moneyline. The over-under is set at 216.

The Knicks and Thunder made a splash with the trade over the summer, sending Carmelo Anthony (22.4 ppg, 5.9 rpg) to Oklahoma City. The Thunder also signed Paul George (23.7 ppg, 6.6 rpg), giving plenty of firepower around reigning NBA MVP Russell Westbrook (31.6 ppg, 10.7 rpg, 10.4 apg). Look for OKC to be among those who at least put a threat to the Warriors' reign of dominance in the Western Conference this season.

New York will have Kristaps Porzingis (18.1 ppg, 7.2 rpg) as the face of its franchise for years to come with Anthony out of the picture. The problem is the dearth of talent around him, with the Knicks fully in rebuild mode. Even in the depleted Eastern Conference, New York is a long shot to make the playoffs.

Oklahoma City won all three meetings straight up last season and covered the spread two times. The total went over twice.

The Thunder are going to be powerful this season, but it's going to take time for the chemistry to come. While the Knicks aren't a very good basketball team, they do have one budding superstar in Porzingis who can cause matchup problems. Look for New York to stay within the number tonight.
