Rockets vs. Warriors Pick
Are the defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors going to roll past the visiting Houston Rockets Tuesday night at 10:30PM EST?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Warriors are listed as a 9-point favorite against the spread, while the over-under is set at 229 points.
The Warriors shouldn't miss a beat after winning the NBA title last year for the second time in three years. A starting five that includes Steph Curry (25.3 ppg), Kevin Durant (25.1 ppg, 8.3 rpg), Klay Thompson (22.3 ppg) and Draymond Green (10.3 ppg, 7.9 rpg) is poised to once again be the class of the Western Conference.
Houston should also be improved after a strong 2016-17 campaign as the addition of point guard Chris Paul (18.1 ppg, 9.2 apg) via trade gives the Rockets a piece that was sorely lacked in previous years. He'll combine with James Harden (29.1 ppg, 11.2 apg, 8.1 rpg) to form an outstanding one-two punch.
Golden State won three of four meetings last year and the over-under went under three times. The total went over in four of the Rockets' last five road games last year. The total has gone under in six of the last seven meetings and the Rockets are 1-5 ATS in the last six games against the Warriors.
Golden State is in another stratosphere right now, although somehow the Western Conference is even more stacked this season to make their life more difficult. The Rockets are one of the squads that will attempt to challenge for the top spot, but with a starting five that is full of chemistry don't expect a repeat performance of when the Spurs spanked the Warriors in last year's season opener at the Oracle. We like Golden State to pull away in the second half and win on th spread.
