Nuggets fall in Game 3, but cover

Denver went to four overtimes with Portland in Game 3, but ultimately fell by a score of 140-137 to fall behind 2-1 in the series. The Nuggets did manage to cover the spread in the loss. Denver is 59-33 overall, 21-24 on the road, 47-45 against the spread and 51-40-1 with the under.

The Nuggets saw their star log a lot of minutes on Friday night. Nikola Jokic played 65 minutes in the loss, putting up 33 points, 18 rebounds and 14 assists. Jamal Murray added 34 points, nine rebounds and five assists while playing 55 minutes. Will Barton came off the bench and played 39 minutes. He finished with 22 points and nine rebounds.

Blazers grind out win

Portland survived a very long playoff game at home on Friday to take a 2-1 lead in the series. The Blazers are now 59-31 on the season, 36-9 at home, 49-40-1 against the spread and 47-41-2 with the over.

The Blazers once against got help for their star player in Game 3. Damian Lillard played 58 minutes and scored 28 points with six rebounds and four assists, but it was CJ McCollum that led the team, as he put up 41 points with eight rebounds while logging a team-high 60 minutes. Rodney Hood came through big in the fourth overtime, scoring seven points, including the game-winning shot. Hood finished with 19 points off the bench.

NBA Betting Trends

Denver

Denver is 7-1 against the spread in its last eight conference semifinal games, but just 6-13 ATS in their last 19 games after playing on 1 day of rest.

Portland

The Blazers are 22-10 against the spread in their last 32 games playing on 1 day of rest and 15-6-1 ATS in their last 22 games following a failed cover.

Prediction:

This game is going to be tough for both teams. Going four overtimes is going to lead to some tired legs tonight. I think it is going to hurt Denver more. They are on the road and Jokic is a big man that put a lot of minutes on his body. Portland’s stars are guards, who should be able to recover a little quicker. I wouldn’t think Lillard and McCollum will be too fatigued by Game 3. Both teams only used nine players in Game 3, so there is no favorite when it comes to depth tonight. I like the Blazers to use their fresher legs at home to get past the Nuggets.

NBA Prediction: Portland Trail Blazers -3
