Memphis Grizzlies DFS Notes
Ja Morant hit 9-of-22 shots, a 3-pointer and 11-of-17 free throws for 30 points, 13 rebounds, nine assists and three steals to lead the Grizzlies in a comeback 111-109 win over Minnesota in Game 5 In Memphis on Tuesday. Oh my. For starters, Ja missed a triple-double by just one assist. He also had one of the best in-game dunks in the history of the NBA, let alone the playoffs, and hit a monster 3-pointer with 1:03 left to give his team their first lead in the game. The Grizzlies outscored the Wolves 37-24 in the fourth quarter to take the game (sparked by Morant's dunk) and Ja hit six straight free throws in the clutch to help secure the win. He also hit the game-winning layup after Anthony Edwards tied the game with an incredible 3-pointer. AntMan then overplayed Ja on the ensuing inbounds play with 3.7 seconds remaining, allowing Morant to get to the rack for the game-winning layup with just 1.0 seconds left. The Grizzlies are the first team to be down double digits heading into the fourth quarter in two games and come back and win and are now up 3-2 with Game 6 in Minnesota on Friday night. As Morant 'said' after the game, "call me."
Minnesota Timberwolves DFS Notes
Anthony Edwards shot 8-of-20 from the field and 3-of-4 from the foul line in Tuesday's 111-109 loss to the Grizzlies, tallying 22 points, one rebound, and three 3-pointers in 35 minutes. Edwards hit the second-biggest shot of Game 5, as his corner three with 3.7 seconds remaining tied the score at 109. But he made the mistake of gambling for a steal on Memphis' ensuing possession, which led to Ja Morant converting the game-winning layup. Edwards' field goal percentage is not as concerning as his muted impact in other categories, as he failed to record a single assist, steal, or blocked shot. Minnesota can ill-afford to have Edwards produce at this level when the series moves back to Minneapolis for Game 6 Friday night.
