DeRozan heats up in Game 4
Despite the 106-98 loss at Washington in Game 4, Raptors shooting guard DeMar DeRozan had his second-best scoring output of the series with 35 points although he only shot 10-of-29 from the floor. His point total was boosted by repeatedly getting to the free throw line, going 14-of-18. DeRozan had his best scoring game in Game 2 when he poured in 37 as the Raptors won 130-119 at home. He'll need more help from teammates tonight as Kyle Lowry was the next-leading scorer with 19 in the Game 4 defeat.
VanVleet remains doubtful
Raptors backup point guard Fred VanVleet has missed most of the series with a shoulder injury, only playing three minutes in Game 2. His absence has been noticable as he carved out an important role off the bench this season, averaging 8.6 points along with 3.2 assists and 2.4 rebounds over 20 minutes per game. If VanVleet misses another game, expect Lowry and DeRozan to each play an extra couple minutes while Delon Wright also absorbs additional time off the bench. Wright has played at least 25 minutes in three of the four playoff games, which included a Game 1 scoring output of 18 points.
NBA Betting Trends
Washington
The under is 5-0-1 in the last six Wizards games following an ATS victory. The under is 12-4 in the last 16 meetings in Toronto.
Toronto
The Raptors are 4-0-1 in their last five home games. The over is 6-1-1 in the last eight Toronto games played on two days of rest.
Prediction:
I always harbor back to how good Toronto has been at home this season and it quite often does well for me. The Raptors covered the spread at home both games this series, winning by eight and 11 points. Bettors might be swayed toward Washington after how it played on its home court, but I'm going with a Toronto team that has gone 36-7 straight up at home this season.
