Spurs fall at home

The Spurs dropped Game 4 of the series on Saturday, 117-103, to have the series move to 2-2. San Antonio had a very poor defensive game, allowing Denver to pull away. The Spurs are now 50-36 on the season, 17-26 on the road, 45-39-2 against the spread and 46-39-1 with the over.

The Spurs were outscored 69-45 over the second and third quarter in Game 4 after leading by 12 points through one. San Antonio was 37 of 79 from the floor, but just 5 of 17 from the arc. LaMarcus Aldridge had a team-high 24 points and nine rebounds, but wasn’t used down the stretch as coach Gregg Popovich seemed upset with his starters. DeMar DeRozan added 19 points with five rebounds and five assists in the loss.

Nuggets finally shine

Denver finally had a really strong showing for multiple quarters in this series, really taking it to San Antonio in Game 4. The Nuggets are now 56-30 on the season, 35-8 at home, 44-42 against the spread and 48-37-1 with the under.

The Nuggets found their outside shot in Game 4, going 15 of 31 from the arc while shooting 40 of 89 from the field. Nikola Jokic had another solid game, putting up 29 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists. Jamal Murray added 24 points and six assists while Torrey Craig had 18 points, including five 3-pointers.

NBA Betting Trends

San Antonio

The Spurs are just 2-5-1 against the spread in their last eight conference games, but 4-0 ATS in their last four following a double-digit loss at home.

The Nuggets are just 2-9 against the spread in their last 11 conference quarterfinal games and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games following a win.

The Nuggets finally looked like the 2 seed on Saturday. Their defense is really what sparked their offensive surge as they really made San Antonio work when the Spurs had the ball. That seemed to tire them out for defense and allowed the Nuggets to get a lot of easy baskets. Denver will need more of that tonight and I think they will get it at home. The Nuggets were the NBA’s best home team this season. I feel good about them taking their first series lead tonight.

NBA Prediction: Denver Nuggets -5.5
