Public Betting Information
According to oddsmakers at YouWager, the Rockets are a 5.5-point favorite on the spread line. The total is set at 214.5 points. As of Saturday morning, 85 percent of public bets are pouring in on visiting Houston. Check out our NBA Public Betting Page for the latest info.
Green provides boost off bench
Rockets reserve swingman Gerald Green is a bit of a wild card in that you never know what to expect when he's on the court, but when he is locked in he is a major asset. Green contributed 21 points and 12 rebounds off the bench, hitting 5-of-12 from 3-point range in the 102-82 victory over Minnesota. The 32-year-old Green averaged 12.1 points per game on the season and has consistently been seeing minutes in the mid-20s as of late. If he keeps providing solid play the rest of the playoffs, his minutes aren't going to anyone else.
T-Wolves need more from Towns
This should be prefaced by saying it is far from only Karl-Anthony Towns' fault and in fact it's more like hardly is fault. For whatever reason, Minnesota has seen fit to reduce Towns' usage rate in most lineups on the floor this season and especially with Jimmy Butler on the floor. But even with his chances not being enough, Towns noticeably struggled in Game 2 with only five points and 10 rebounds over 24 minutes. He has had good success against Rockets center Clint Capela in the past, so as long as the Timberwolves stay committed to getting Towns involved he should bounce back with a monster game.
NBA Betting Trends
Houston
The Rockets are 0-4 ATS in their last four road games. The over is 7-1 in the last eight meetings in Minnesota.
Minnesota
The over is 14-5 in the last 19 meetings. The over is 4-0 in the last four Timberwolves games on Saturday.
Prediction:
Houston is on its game, but Minnesota is 30-11 at home and Jimmy Butler is inching closer to his old self. I feel this spread might be a piont or two too high and the Timberwolves offer a strong moneyline bet despite much of the public being on Houston. This seems as though it will go down to the final minute.
