Spurs win three straight

San Antonio is the 7 seed in the West and riding a 3-game win streak entering tonight’s game. The Spurs are 48-34 on the season, 16-25 on the road, 43-37-2 against the spread and 43-38-1 with the over.

The Spurs are in the middle of the road on offense and defense. Defensively, they give up 110 points per game while opponents shoot 46.3 percent from the field and 35.9 percent from the arc. Offensively, San Antonio is putting up 111.7 points per game. They do rank second in shooting (47.8 percent) and first in 3-point shooting (39.2 percent). LaMarcus Aldridge is leading the team with 21.3 points and 9.2 rebounds per game while DeMar DeRozan is adding 21.2 points, 6.0 rebounds and 6.2 assists per contest.

Nuggets strong at home

Denver is the 2 seed in the West and coming off a 99-95 win over Minnesota at home on Wednesday. The Nuggets are 54-28 on the season, 34-7 at home, 42-40 against the spread and 47-34-1 with the under.

The Nuggets are a strong defensive team, giving up 106.7 points per game while opponents are held to 33.9 percent shooting from the arc and 45.8 percent shooting from the field. Offensively, Denver is averaging 110.7 points per game. As a team, the Nuggets shoot 46.6 percent from the floor and 35.1 percent from the arc. Nikola Jokic is leading the team with 20.1 points, 10.8 rebounds and 7.3 assists per game while Jamal Murray is adding 18.2 points and 4.8 assists per contest.

NBA Betting Trends

San Antonio

The Spurs are 5-2-1 against the spread in their last eight road games, but just 1-5 ATS in their last six following a win.

Denver

The Nuggets are 0-7 ATS in their last seven conference quarterfinal games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven home games.

Prediction:

The home team won all four meetings between these two this season. Denver and San Antonio both kind of limped to the finish line this season, as neither team was playing particularly well over the last month. Still, Denver has impressive home numbers and I think the Nuggets are determined to prove they are a legit contender. San Antonio has talent, but the Spurs just haven’t been able to consistently put the pieces together. I think the Spurs are going to struggle with the Nuggets defense and pace in Denver.

NBA Prediction: Denver Nuggets -5.5
