76ers locked in at 3

The 76ers are coming off a 116-96 win at Chicago on Saturday, locking them into the third seed in the Eastern Conference. The 76ers are 50-30 on the season, 20-20 on the road, 37-43 against the spread and 41-39 with the over.

Philadelphia is putting up 115.3 points per game on offense this season while shooting 47.1 percent from the field. Defensively, Philly is giving up 112.4 points per game while opponents shoot 45.4 percent from the field. Joel Embiid and JJ Redick are out for the game tonight while Jimmy Butler is expected to play. Butler is averaging 18.5 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Heat can’t get a win

Miami is coming off a 117-109 loss at Toronto in OT on Sunday. The Heat have lost four straight games and have failed to cover in their last three. Miami is now 38-42 overall, 18-22 at home, 42-37-1 against the spread and 41-39 with the over. The Heat are one game behind Detroit for the eighth seed in the East, but they are also tied with Charlotte for ninth and are behind the Hornets in the tiebreaker.

The Heat are one of the top defensive teams in the league, allowing just 105.9 points per game while holding opponents to 44.3 percent shooting. Offensively, Miami is putting up 105.6 points per game while shooting 45 percent as a squad. Josh Richardson remains out with a hip injury. He leads the team in scoring with 16.6 points per game. Dwyane Wade is adding 14.7 points per game.

NBA Betting Trends

Philadelphia

The 76ers are 2-5 against the spread in their last seven conference games and 2-6 ATS in their last eight after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game.

Miami

The Heat are just 1-3-1 ATS in their last five home games, but 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games against Atlantic Division opponents.

Prediction:

The 76ers are locked into their spot, so I don’t know that they are going to be too concerned with pushing themselves too hard tonight, especially against a physical defensive team that has everything at stake. The Heat are definitely in a funk, but they have to win tonight to keep their playoff hopes alive. Being at home, I have to take my chances with them against a short-handed Philly team.

NBA Prediction: Miami Heat -5
