Julius Randle played 30 minutes in Saturday’s win over the Pistons, tallying 29 points (9-of-16 FGs, 6-of-7 FTs), eight rebounds, three assists and five 3-pointers. Friday's loss to the Mavericks was just the fifth time this season that Randle has shot below 30% in a game. The All-Star has proven to be quite good at bouncing back from such efforts, shooting 50% or better from the field the following game on four separate occasions. Not only did Randle manage to bounce back but, with the Knicks ultimately winning by 44 points, he was able to get some much-needed rest during the fourth quarter. Before Saturday, Randle had not played fewer than 35 minutes in a game since March 2 vs. San Antonio.

Kyrie Irving had a season-high 15 assists in Sunday’s loss to Chicago, adding 24 points, two rebounds and two steals in a team-high 39 minutes. He shot 12-of-27 from the field but failed to hit a three-pointer for just the fourth time this season. This was also Irving’s third straight double-double, a feat he has not accomplished since March of 2019 when he was a member of the Celtics. He’s bound to have the ball in his hands far more often while Harden and KD are out, so the high assist total today isn’t all that surprising. Kyrie will look to keep it going tomorrow against the Knicks in the battle of New York.
