Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook BetNow.eu, the Trail Blazers are 5-point favorites to beat the Pistons. The total, meanwhile, sits at 215 points and as of this writing, 77% of the public betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Trail Blazers to cover the point spread.
Detroit Pistons Fantasy Spin
Blake Griffin made just 4-of-17 from the field for 17 points during a 118-98 win over the Suns on Thursday, adding seven rebounds, eight assists, one steal, one block and two 3-pointers in 31 minutes. The team gave him Monday off in a back-to-back set, and he struggled with his shot today. The Pistons do have another B2B coming up on Saturday and Sunday with games in Portland and Oakland, so it's possible he gets another game off there. Detroit has a 3.5-game cushion to remain in the playoffs and sit in the No. 6 seed.
Portland Trail Blazers Fantasy Spin
Damian Lillard obliterated the Mavs on Wednesday with 33 points (9-of-18 FGs, 9-of-10 FTs), 12 assists, six triples, five rebounds, two steals and one turnover in 30 minutes. That gives Lillard 19 games with 30 & 10 in his career, tying Clyde Drexler for most in franchise history. It may not take long to pass Clyde, either, since in two games without C.J. McCollum (left knee) he's averaging 31.5 points and 13.5 dimes. Portland received good news about McCollum when he was diagnosed with a popliteus strain, but Lillard still expects to "finish the regular season without him." Dame's owners should buckle up for a big finish.
NBA Betting Trends
Detroit
The Pistons are 9-3 against the spread in their last 12 games when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous contest.
Portland
The Trail Blazers have covered the spread in 39 of their previous 58 home games and are 23-8 against the spread in their last 31 games against Eastern Conference foes.
Prediction
Portland has been outstanding at the betting window but the Pistons are hot and have covered the spread in five of the previous six meetings between these two teams. Detroit is also 8-3 against the spread in its last 11 games overall and 10-4 ATS in its last 14 games coming off a win. Finally, the Pistons are 7-1 against the spread in their last eight games coming off a win of more than 10 points. I believe they can hang.
