Clippers vs. Cavs Spread Prediction

Los Angeles Clippers vs. Cleveland Cavs, 3/22/19 Predictions & Odds

The L.A. Clippers have used a second-half surge to put themselves in position to earn homecourt advantage in the first-round of the playoffs. They’ll host the Cavs Friday night at 7:30 p.m. ET and are laying seven. Is that too many points?

Public Betting Trends

According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook BetNow.eu, the Clippers are 7-point favorites to beat the Cavs. The total, meanwhile, sits at 228 points and as of this writing, 80% of the public betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Clippers to cover the point spread.

Los Angeles Clippers Fantasy Spin

Danilo Gallinari hit 8-of-17 shots and four 3-pointers for 24 points, two rebounds, three assists and two steals in 31 minutes of Tuesday's win over the Pacers. That makes seven straight games of at least 20 points for Gallinari, which is a career best for him. Of course, some of us don't recall him ever playing in seven straight games before this season, but we kid because we care. Outside of a stretch when he missed 10 games in January and February with back spasms, Gallinari has been incredibly healthy this season, and has really come through for his owners. He'll look to push his 20-point streak to eight games on Friday at Cleveland.

Cleveland Cavs Fantasy Spin

Jordan Clarkson helped Cleveland beat Milwaukee on Wednesday, scoring 23 points with five rebounds, two assists and two steals off the bench. Clarkson is now just 10 bench points away from passing Campy Russell for the most points by a Cavs reserve in a single season. That's an indication of how steadily good he's been as a sixth-man, regardless of the teammates around him. He hit 9-of-17 FGs and 4-of-4 FTs tonight, and remains a strong source of offensive numbers -- tonight's supporting stats were a bonus.

NBA Betting Trends

Los Angeles

The Clippers have covered the spread in eight of their last 11 games overall and have covered in four of their last five road games.

Cleveland

The Cavs are just 17-35-2 at the betting window in their last 54 games versus Western Conference games.

Prediction

The Clippers are hot but they have not been profitable in Cleveland, failing to cover the spread in 12 of their last 16 road games versus the Cavs. Speaking of the Cavs, they’re 4-1-1 against the spread in their last six games overall and are 4-0 against the number in their last four home games. This is too many points for a Cleveland team that is on a decent ATS run.

Friday NBA Prediction: Cleveland Cavs +7
