Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook BetNow.eu, the Nets are 1.5-point favorites to beat the Lakers. The total, meanwhile, sits at 230.5 points and as of this writing, 80% of the public betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Lakers to cover the point spread.
btook over Tuesday's game in the fourth quarter, when he scored 27 of his career-high 44 points, and the Nets overcame a 28-point second-half deficit to beat the Kings 123-121. Russell couldn't miss in the final quarter and scored at will, leading his team into contention, while letting Jared Dudley and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson get the glory. Dudley hit the go-ahead 3-pointer late, and RHJ made a circus shot for the game-winner with 0.8 seconds left. DAR had four rebounds, 12 assists, four steals and six 3-pointers, to go along with his 44 points, and might be looking at a max contract in his near future
Los Angeles Lakers Fantasy Spin
LeBron James (sore left groin) went through portions of Thursday's practice and coach Luke Walton expects him to play on Friday. "I think he’ll be able to go," Walton said. Hopefully we'll get a definitive update after L.A.'s home shootaround, because a game-time decision means we'd be in the dark until nearly 10:30 ET. LeBron was rested on Friday and sat out Tuesday's game with this groin ailment, and more DNPs appear inevitable -- including a back-to-back set next week on Mar. 26-27. If he doesn't suit up, Mike Muscala should get another start while Kyle Kuzma does whatever he wants offensively.
NBA Betting Trends
Brooklyn
The Nets are just 1-4 against the spread in their last five games coming off a win.
Los Angeles
The Lakers are 6-24-1 at the betting window in their last 31 games versus Eastern Conference foes.
Prediction
Even if LeBron plays tonight, L.A. has been such a disastrous against the spread that I cannot recommend the host. The Lakers are 3-13 against the spread in their last 16 games overall and are winless at the betting window in their last four home games. They’re also 3-14 ATS in their last 17 games when their opponent allows 100 points or more in their previous game and are 2-5-1 against the spread in their last eight home games versus the Nets. Speaking of Brooklyn, the Nets have covered the spread in 10 of their previous 13 games against the Western Conference and are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 road games versus an opponent with a winning home record.
Friday NBA Prediction: Brooklyn Nets -1.5
