Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook BetNow.eu, the Magic are 7.5-point favorites to beat the Hawks. The total, meanwhile, sits at 225.5 points and as of this writing, 63% of the public betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Hawks to cover the point spread.
Atlanta Hawks Fantasy Spin
Trae Young scored 26 points on 10-of-17 shooting in a 129-120 loss to the Celtics on Saturday, and also chipped in four rebounds, four assists, five treys and two steals in 31 minutes. Young and Kyrie Irving went at each all game, with each player scoring nine points apiece in the opening five minutes of the first quarter. The only negative on the afternoon for Trae was his six turnovers. However, this is the second straight game he's shot over 55 percent from the floor and 60-plus percent from 3-point range.
Orlando Magic Fantasy Spin
Nikola Vucevic made 9-of-15 from the field for 19 points with 11 rebounds, two assists, two steals and one turnover in 27 minutes against the Cavs during a 120-91 win on Thursday. The Magic had this one at half with a 20-point lead, and they didn't have to play their first unit for most of the fourth. They had struggled in their previous five games with four losses, so they badly had to win this game. They're still 1.5 games behind the Heat, but Vucevic should be locked in on a nightly basis with their playoff hopes likely coming down to the final days of April. He's arguably been the best bargain from draft day.
NBA Betting Trends
Atlanta
The Hawks covered the spread in nine of their previous 12 games played on Sunday.
Orlando
The Magic are winless at the betting window in four of their previous four games when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous contest.
Prediction
The Magic are the ones fighting for a playoff spot but it has been the Hawks that have been hot at the betting window. Atlanta has covered the spread in four straight games overall and six straight on the road. The Hawks are also 4-1 at the betting window in their last five games playing on no rest and are 7-1 ATS in their last eight games following a loss. On the other side, the Magic are just 1-5 against the spread in their last six games overall and have failed to cover in 23 of their last 31 games following a win.
