Suns vs. Pelicans Spread Prediction

Phoenix Suns vs. New Orleans Pelicans, 3/16/19 Predictions & Odds

The Pelicans lost their fifth game in a row on Friday night, dropping a 122-110 decision to the Trail Blazers, which was also the fifth consecutive game in which they failed to cover the spread. Despite their struggles, is New Orleans a good bet to cover as a small home favorite versus the Suns at 7:00 p.m. ET?

Our NBA Live Odds page pulls spreads and totals from multiple different online sportsbooks so you can compare betting odds to ensure you’re getting the best line.

Public Betting Trends

According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook BetNow.eu, the Pelicans are 1-point favorites to beat the Suns. The total, meanwhile, sits at 232.5 points and as of this writing, 79% of the public betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Pelicans to cover the point spread.

Phoenix Suns Fantasy Spin

Deandre Ayton bounced back on Friday with 17 points, 14 rebounds, one block and seven turnovers in 32 minutes against the Rockets. After his career-low two points on Wednesday, Ayton gave himself an "F-minus" for his poor performance. He was more engaged on offense, and he even played well against the pick-and-roll action with Clint Capela. Although, those seven turnovers are the most he's ever had as a pro. Ayton will get a back-to-back set against Julius Randle and/or Anthony Davis on Saturday, and he's actually played quite well in his nine previous games with no rest.

New Orleans Pelicans Fantasy Spin

Elfrid Payton dropped another triple-double with 14 points, 12 rebounds, 16 assists, one steal and one 3-pointer in 41 minutes against the Blazers on Friday. He becomes the first player in franchise history to put up three straight triple-doubles, and he joins Chris Paul as the only players with four career triple-doubles in a New Orleans uniform. Jrue Holiday (abdomen) may be shut down for the season, so Payton has a clear path for stat-stuffing ways.

NBA Betting Trends

Phoenix

The Suns are a percent 4-0 against the spread in their last four road games and have covered the number in six of their last seven games overall.

New Orleans

The Pelicans have failed to cover in each of their last four home games and in each of their last five games overall.

Prediction

Despite New Orleans’ recent struggles, I like the Pelicans tonight. The Suns are winless against the spread in their last six games versus the Pelicans while the favorite has covered in each of the previous five meetings between these two teams. New Orleans has also been a solid play when playing the second game of a back-to-back, covering in four of its previous five games in that situation.

Saturday NBA Prediction: New Orleans Pelicans -1
