Jonas Valanciunas had eight points, one block and three turnovers without any other stats in 20 minutes vs. the Hawks on Wednesday. JV shot 3-of-8 from the field and made a pair of free throws, but this was an unmitigated disaster for his fantasy owners. He was coming off a nice all-around game vs. the Magic and had been thriving with Memphis, hitting double-digit points in eight straight games, so we expect him to bounce back vs. the Wizards on Saturday. That's the second of just two games this week, though, which makes tonight's dud sting even more.

Washington Wizards Fantasy Spin

Bradley Beal's 40 points weren't enough in a 116-110 loss to the Hornets on Friday, dropping the Wizards to 29-40. The No. 8 seeded Miami (32-35) has a big game against the Bucks to determine whether the Wizards will be four or five losses back by the end of the night. With 13 games to go, the Wizards are running of time and Beal's fantasy owners are just hoping they can stay within striking distance so that he keeps logging a ton of minutes. This was the 4th time Beal reached the 40-point mark this season, hitting 15-of-29 shots and 3-of-3 free throws with five assists, five rebounds, one steal, one block and seven triples. He has clearly established himself as a top-10 fantasy asset with John Wall out of the picture.

Prediction

In my write-up yesterday on the Hornets and Wizards, I noted that I wouldn’t fade Washington at home until the team gave me reason to. Even though they were soundly beaten by a bad Charlotte team, I’m going back to the well with the Wizards. They are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last five home games. The home team in this series has also covered in six of the previous seven meetings while the Grizzlies are just 2-5 against the number in their last seven games versus the Wizards in D.C.
