Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook BetNow.eu, the Suns are 3.5-point favorites to beat the Knicks. The total, meanwhile, sits at 225 points and as of this writing, 80% of the public betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Suns to cover the point spread.
New York Knicks Fantasy Spin
David Fizdale said that DeAndre Jordan has made solid progress in his recovery from the ankle injury and there's a "good chance" he'll play on Wednesday against the Suns. If Jordan is able to get back out there following a five-game absence, Noah Vonleh would return to the second unit, and he'd lose most of his value. Mitchell Robinson only needs about 20 minutes to produce quality stat lines, so his value wouldn't be all that affected by the return of DJ. Check back for another update following Wednesday's shootaround.
Phoenix Suns Fantasy Spin
Deandre Ayton had a good night Monday, as he posted a stat line of 19 points, 12 rebounds, three blocked shots and two assists in a win over the Bucks. The double-double is Ayton's second in as many games, and his fourth in the last five. During this stretch the rookie center is averaging 17.8 points, 10.4 rebounds, 1.6 steals, 1.2 assists and 1.0 blocks per game. The three blocked shots are the most Ayton's recorded in a game since January 12 against the Nuggets. If Ayton can provide some production as a shot blocker, his fantasy value would improve considerably.
NBA Betting Trends
New York
The Knicks are 1-6 against the number in their last seven games coming off an ATS win.
Phoenix
The Suns are 7-18 at the betting window in their last 25 home games versus a team with a losing road record.
Prediction
I don’t want to back the Suns as a rare favorite and I’m not getting enough points to take the Knicks, so I’m avoiding the spread in this matchup. The under provides the most value. In the previous seven meetings between these two teams, the under is 5-2. The under is also 7-3 in the Knicks’ last 10 road games, is 13-6 in their last 19 games overall and has cashed in seven of the Suns’ previous 10 games. The under is also 7-3 in Phoenix’s last 10 home games as well.
