Kawhi Leonard came through in the clutch during a 119-117 win over the Blazers on Friday, finishing with 38 points, three rebounds, five assists, three steals and two 3-pointers in 34 minutes. He hit a game-winning fadeaway jumper in the final 1.5 seconds to beat the hot Blazers at home (video in link below). This was Leonard's seventh game-tying or go-ahead shot in the final minute this year as he continues his strong play late. Coach Nick Nurse said they rested Kawhi last weekend because of high-intensity games, and perhaps this thriller could keep Leonard out in upcoming games. He's been a monster when active.

Detroit Pistons Fantasy Spin

Blake Griffin made 6-of-18 from the field for 17 points with seven rebounds, seven assists and three 3-pointers in a 105-93 loss to the Spurs on Wednesday. He's off to a slow start since the break, failing to score more than 20 points in any of his four games since his All-Star Game appearance. Griffin is also cold from the field in his last three, making just 19-of-55 (34.5%). The Pistons had been hot on offense with a three-game winning streak despite Blake's struggles, and there's no reason to worry about this slight dip in offensive output.

Prediction

I made the mistake on Saturday assuming the Pistons were a house of cards that was ready to collapse after they were beaten soundly by the Spurs in San Antonio earlier this week. As it turns out, the Pistons are still hungry after climbing into the playoff race in the East, they just ran into a frustrated Spurs team that has looked much better since returning home from their annual “rodeo road trip.” There’s value in Detroit tonight. The Raptors are 1-6 against the spread in their last seven games overall, are 4-11 against the number in their last 15 road games and have dropped six straight at the betting window following a win. On the other side, the Pistons are a perfect 4-0 against the spread in their last four home games and have covered the number in seven of their last 10 games overall.
