Blazers on cover streak

Portland had its five-game win streak come to an end on Friday night at Toronto in a 119-117 loss, but the Blazers have covered the spread in six straight games, including five straight road games. Portland is 38-24 on the season, 14-16 on the road, 36-26 against the spread and 32-29-1 with the over.

The Blazers are putting up 113.5 points per game while shooting 46.5 percent as a team. Defensively, Portland is giving up 110.0 points per game while allowing teams to shoot 45.7 percent against them. Enes Kanter is expected to return to the team today while Evan Turner is questionable with a knee injury. Damian Lillard is leading the team with 25.9 points and 6.4 assists per game while CJ McCollum is adding 21.2 points per contest.

Hornets end skid

Charlotte put an end to a 3-game losing streak on Friday night in a 123-112 win at Brooklyn. The Hornets are now 29-33 on the season, 20-12 at home, 30-31-1 against the spread and 34-27-1 with the over.

The Hornets are putting up 111.3 points per game on offense this season while shooting 45.1 percent as a team. Defensively, Charlotte is giving up 111.6 points per game while allowing opponents to shoot 46.8 percent against them. Kemba Walker is leading the team with 25.2 points and 5.7 assists per game while Jeremy Lamb is adding 15.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per contest.

NBA Betting Trends

Portland

The Blazers have covered the spread in 21 of their last 29 against Eastern Conference opponents and in 19 of their last 26 overall.

Charlotte

The Hornets are just 1-3-1 ATS in their last five home games and 2-9 ATS in their last 11 against Northwest Division opponents.

Prediction:

Charlotte can be a tough out at home, but the Blazers are playing some of their best basketball right now. Even in Friday’s loss, the Blazers overcame a big deficit to nearly steal a road win at Toronto. Charlotte just doesn’t have the weapons to match Portland. The Blazers have multiple scorers while the Hornets are heavily reliant on Walker. I look for Portland to continue its hot streak and get past Charlotte.

NBA Prediction: Portland Trail Blazers -2.5
