Grizzlies surprise the Lakers
Memphis ended a five-game losing streak on Saturday with a 105-88 win at home over the Lakers despite being an 11-point favorite. The Grizzlies are now 29-31 on the season, 12-17 on the road, 31-28-1 against the spread and 31-29 with the under.
The Grizz are putting up 112.5 points per game on offense while shooting 46.9 percent from the field. Defensively, Memphis is giving up 114.7 points per game, while opponents shoot 45.5 percent against them. Memphis is still without Jaren Jackson Jr. this week due to a knee injury. He averages 16.9 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. Ja Morant is leading the team with 17.7 points and 7.0 assists per contest.
Hawks trying to heat up
Atlanta is coming off a 129-117 win at home over the Blazers on Saturday. The Hawks have won two straight and four of their last six games. Atlanta is now 19-43 on the season, 13-18 at home, 29-32-1 against the spread and 38-24 with the over.
The Hawks are giving up 119.1 points per game on defense this season while allowing opponents to shoot 47.6 percent from the field. Offensively, Atlanta is putting up 111.5 points per game while shooting 45 percent from the field. Trae Young is averaging 29.8 points and 9.4 assists per game to lead the Hawks, while John Collins is averaging 21.4 points and 10.3 rebounds per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
The Grizzlies are 0-4 against the spread in their last four road games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games as an underdog.
The Hawks are 8-2-1 against the spread in their last 11 home games and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five games as a favorite.
These two have yet to meet this season. It should be a great battle of young point guards in Morant and Young. I have to go with Atlanta at home in this one. The Grizzlies looked impressive against the Lakers, but have been a mess prior to that, especially on the road. They have failed to cover in their last four away from home. Atlanta has been playing better as of late, especially at home. They have won and covered in five of their last six at home and have a pretty solid betting record as a favorite. The Hawks seem like they have more scoring options right now than the Grizz, who have struggled without Jackson in the lineup and are in danger of falling out of playoff contention.
