Warriors struggling to cover

The Golden State Warriors are coming off a 121-110 win at Charlotte on Monday. The Warriors managed to cover the spread in the win, but they had failed to cover in six straight prior to that. The Warriors are 43-17 overall, 20-9 on the road, 25-34-1 against the spread and 32-28 with the over.

Golden State has the league’s top offense. The Warriors average a league-best 118.8 points per game and shoot a league-best 49 percent from the field. Defensively, Golden State gives up 112 points per game while holding opponents to 44.7 percent shooting. Stephen Curry averages 28.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game to lead the team while Kevin Durant adds 27.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.8 assists per contest.

Heat in a funk

Miami has really taken a step back this month, dropping six of their last seven, including a rough 124-121 loss at home to Phoenix on Monday. The Heat are now 26-33 on the season, 11-18 at home, 30-29 against the spread and 30-29 with the over.

The Heat have been one of the better defenses this season, allowing 106.2 points per game while limiting opponents to 44.6 percent shooting. Offensively, Miami is scoring just 105.1 points per game while shooting 44.7 percent as a team. Both Rodney McGruder and James Johnson are questionable to play tonight due to injuries. Josh Richardson is leading the team with 17.4 points and 4.0 assists per game while Goran Dragic is adding 14.3 points and 4.5 assists per contest.

NBA Betting Trends

Golden State

The Warriors are 1-5 against the spread in their last six games playing on 1 day of rest and 0-4-1- ATS in their last five against a losing team.

Miami

The Heat have failed to cover the spread in six straight home games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games following a loss.

Prediction:

Miami lost by just two at Golden State on Feb. 10 as a 13.5-point underdog. The Heat have been hard to predict this season, but are 4-2 against the spread in their last six as an underdog. Golden State hasn’t been reliable at covering as of late and the Warriors seem to play down to their competition, especially against sub-.500 teams. While Miami is in a funk, I will take my chances on them at home with the points.

NBA Prediction: Miami Heat +9
