Grizz on a slide

Memphis has been on the road for six of its last seven and ever since the end of the All-Star Break. The Grizzlies have suffered road losses to the Kings, Lakers and Clippers in the last week. Memphis is 28-29 on the season, 12-16 on the road, 30-26-1 against the spread and 29-28 with the under.

The Grizzlies are putting up 112.8 points per game on offense this season while shooting 47.2 percent from the field. Defensively, Memphis is giving up 114.9 points per game while opponents shoot 45.5 percent from the field. The Grizz are without Jaren Jackson Jr. tonight due to his knee injury. He averages 16.9 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. Ja Morant is leading the team with 17.6 points and 6.8 assists per contest.

Rockets heating up

Houston is riding a four-game win streak right now following a 123-112 win at home over the Knicks on Monday. They are 3-1 against the spread during the win streak, only failing to cover a 12.5-point spread against the Knicks. The Rockets are 37-20 on the season, 20-8 at home, 28-29 against the spread and 32-25 with the under.

The Rockets are putting up 118.6 points per game on offense this season, which ranks second in the league. The team shoots 45.4 percent from the field. Defensively, Houston is giving up 114.2 points per game this season while opponents shoot 46.2 percent against them. Houston is led by James Harden, who is averaging 35.3 points, 6.4 rebounds and 7.4 assists per game. Russell Westbrook is adding 27.2 points, 7.9 rebounds and 7.2 assists per contest.

NBA Betting Trends

The Grizzlies are 9-3-1 against the spread in their last 13 games playing on 1 day of rest, but 1-5 ATS in their last six games as an underdog.

The Rockets are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games following a win and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games on 1 day of rest.

These two have split their first two meetings this season, both of which were in Memphis. This Grizz have struggled on this road trip, getting thoroughly beaten by the Clippers and Lakers. Memphis’ offense has taken a hit as of late without Jackson and their defense continues to give up big points. I see that being a problem with Houston tonight as well. The Rockets are really scoring at a high pace with this small lineup and it hasn’t impacted their defense a great deal. Memphis isn’t a team that can take advantage of the lack of size in the paint for Houston either.

NBA Prediction: Houston Rockets -11.5
