Ben Simmons matched a season-high 29 points during a 130-115 home loss to the Blazers on Saturday, adding seven rebounds, 10 assists and four turnovers. He was an impressive 7-of-8 from the line in this loss, and that's the most attempts with 0-1 misses in his NBA career. Simmons failed to get to 60 FT% from the line in either of his previous two months, but the strong game today boosted him to 61.5 FT% in February this season. With Joel Embiid (knee) out, Simmons does get a 3.5 usage rate boost with better rebounding and dime percentages, as well. He should have some big games in the short term.

New Orleans Pelicans Fantasy Spin

Jahlil Okafor finished Saturday’s win over the Lakers with ten points (4-of-7 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), three rebounds, one assist and one blocked shot in 13 minutes of action. The 13 minutes are the fewest that Okafor has played in a game he’s been healthy for since January 18, when he played seven minutes in a loss to the Trail Blazers. Anthony Davis (rest) was out of the lineup Saturday, but that wasn’t enough to get Okafor more playing time as Alvin Gentry leaned on his perimeter players and Julius Randle for most of the night. Jahlil’s an intriguing fantasy player moving forward due to the Davis situation, but in recent games matchups have also had a significant impact on his minutes.

Prediction

As you can read above, the Pelicans have been horrendous against the spread when coming off a win but the Sixers’ loss to the Trail Blazers was ugly. Joel Embiid will continue to miss time with a sore left knee and without him on Saturday, Philly struggled, even at home. The Pelicans are 7-1-1 against the spread in their last nine games when playing an opponent with a winning percentage above .600 and as their recent home victories over the Lakers and Thunder indicate, they’ll get up for playoff opponents. The Sixers fit the bill tonight, so I expect a strong effort out of the Pels.
