Los Angeles Lakers Fantasy Spin

LeBron James posted his second double-double in the Lakers’ last three games Saturday, as he accounted for 27 points, 12 assists, seven rebounds, four steals, one blocked shot and three 3-pointers in 39 minutes. Los Angeles lost for the third time in its last five games Saturday, with the defense once again proving to be an issue in the 128-115 loss to the Pelicans. James, who appeared to roll his left ankle during the fourth quarter (he remained in the game), shot 11-of-17 from the field and 3-of-6 from three but made just two of his six free throws. A 68.0% shooter from the charity stripe for the season, he’s right around 66% for the month of February. There have been questions as to just how healthy LeBron is after he missed a significant amount of time in January due to a groin strain, as this will impact just how much of the "heavy lifting" he’ll be able to do for a team that’s on the outside looking in when it comes to the playoffs. James will still have high fantasy value, but if he isn’t 100 percent that will impact just how effective he is.

Memphis Grizzlies Fantasy Spin

Mike Conley (left knee soreness) is probable for Monday's game vs. the Lakers. If Conley is unexpectedly ruled out, expect Delon Wright and Jevon Carter to control the PG position in a promising matchup. The prospect of precautionary rest looms over Conley's rest-of-season fantasy outlook, but it sounds like he'll suit up on Monday.

Prediction

As of Monday morning, 80-percent of the betting tickets are on the Lakers but the point spread has dropped from 5 down to 4.5 at most sportsbooks. Both teams are struggling, with the Lakers dropping six out of 10 and the Grizzlies losing seven of 10, but I still see value in a Memphis team that is getting points as a home dog. Speaking of which, the Grizzlies are 5-1 against the spread in their last six home games. They’re also 5-2 ATS in their last seven conference games and covered five of their previous seven playing on one day of rest. Meanwhile, the Lakers are 1-4 against the spread in their last five road games while the underdog covered in six of the previous eight meetings between these teams.
