Suns hard to predict
Phoenix has bounced around all season, winning games it shouldn’t and losing games it shouldn’t. The Suns are coming off a 112-104 win at Chicago on Saturday, but they are just 1-4 against the spread in their last five. Phoenix is 23-34 overall, 12-16 on the road, 26-30-1 against the spread and 29-28 with the under.
The Suns are putting up 112.2 points per game on offense this season while shooting 46.2 percent from the field. Defensively, Phoenix is giving up 113.5 points per game while opponents shoot 47.3 percent against them. Phoenix is led by Devin Booker this season. He is averaging 26.4 points and 6.3 assists per game. Deandre Ayton is adding 19.0 points and 12.2 rebounds per contest.
Jazz look to end slide
Utah is coming off a pair of home losses to the likes of the Spurs and the Rockets, both as the favorite. The Jazz are now 36-20 on the season, 20-7 at home, 28-27-1 against the spread and 29-27 with the over.
The Jazz are giving up just 107.5 points per game on defense this season, while opponents shoot 44.9 percent against them. Offensively, Utah is putting up 111.1 points per game while shooting 47.4 percent from the field and a league-best 38.4 percent from the arc. Utah is led by Donovan Mitchell, who is putting up 24.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. Rudy Gobert is adding 15.6 points and 14.4 rebounds per game.
NBA Betting Trends
Phoenix
The Suns are just 1-5 against the spread in their last six road games and 1-4 ATS in their last their last five on 1 day of rest.
Utah
The Jazz are 14-6 against the spread in their last 20 games when playing on 1 day of rest and 7-0 ATS in their last seven games following a double-digit loss at home.
Prediction:
Utah won the first meeting in Phoenix by one point back in October in a low-scoring game. Both teams are playing their third game in four nights, but Utah has been at home for all three. Phoenix has been at a different road location for each game. I think that is going to lead to some tired legs that will impact their ability to score and defend. Phoenix needs to win with offense, but their fatigue will play into Utah’s defensive strength. It’s a big spread for an average Jazz offense to cover, but I think they will handle themselves at home.
NBA Prediction: Utah Jazz -8
