Robert Covington hit 2-of-4 shots (a pair of 3-pointers) for six points, five rebounds, two assists, a steal and two blocks in Monday's ugly 132-100 blowout loss to the Suns. He was trying to become the first player in NBA history to rack up at least two 3-pointers and four blocks in four straight games, but didn't quite get there in the blocks department. But after getting off to a really rough start this season, he's had a February to remember, racking up 25 3-pointers, 20 steals, 21 blocks and a slew of rebounds and assists in his 12 games this month. He's never going to be a big scorer, but if you held onto him through the rough start, he's paying big dividends this month. The only problem is that the Blazers have lost back-to-back games to the Wizards and Suns after winning six straight games and eight of their previous nine before the losses to inferior teams. They'll look to get back on track against the Nuggets on Tuesday.

Michael Porter Jr. was limited to less than 20 minutes of action on Sunday night, scoring 10 points with three rebounds and two blocks in the loss. After the game, Michael Malone was asked about MPJ's minimal floor time and said, "We were getting our ass kicked. I took a lot of guys out. I took all starters except Nikola out in that third quarter because we were getting blown out. Just looking for a group that was going to play hard. So it wasn't just individual, it was a collective group decision. And the guys that were out there got us back in the game." MPJ did pick up his third foul with five minutes left in the first half but had scored 10 points in the opening frame, so we're not sure if there's an underlying issue here between coach and player because this isn't the first time MPJ has played limited minutes this season.
