Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook BetNow.eu, the Nuggets are 5-point favorites to beat the Mavericks. The total, meanwhile, sits at 223 points and as of this writing, 57% of the public betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Nuggets to cover the point spread.
Denver Nuggets Fantasy Spin
Trey Lyles (left hamstring strain) will not play vs. the Mavericks and could miss multiple weeks. Beat writer Nick Kosmider was "told this could be a two-week absence." Denver simply can't shake the injury bug this season, though Lyles' absence shouldn't hurt too much with Paul Millsap and Mason Plumlee healthy, all manner of small-ball lineups in play, and guys like Juancho Hernangomez and Torrey Craig available for depth.
Dallas Mavericks Fantasy Spin
Luka Doncic (sore right ankle) is questionable for Friday's game vs. the Nuggets. This is a new injury for Doncic, who may have injured the ankle during practice this week. The good news is that, according to Basketball Monster, he has played in 92 percent (11-of-12) games in which he's been listed as questionable. We will have another update on his status when coach Rick Carlisle speaks to reporters around 7:00 pm EST. If Luka is unable to play, Tim Hardaway, Ryan Broekhoff and Jalen Bruson would likely see an uptick in playing time.
NBA Betting Trends
The Nuggets are 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous contest.
The Mavericks are 8-1 against the spread in their last nine games coming off a double-digit loss at home.
The Nuggets are just 1-6-1 against the spread in their last eight trips to Dallas and covered just once in their last four games versus the Mavericks overall. The Nuggets are 3-13 against the spread in their last 16 road games and 1-4 against the number in their last five games overall. On the other side, the Mavericks are 8-3-1 against the spread in their last 12 games overall and 17-7-1 at the window in their last 25 home games. The home team has dominated this series, posting a 12-5-1 ATS record in the last 18 meetings between these two teams.
