Grizz fall in Sacramento

Memphis is coming off a 129-125 loss at Sacramento last night. The Grizzlies have had four of their last five games on the road. Memphis is now 28-27 on the season, 12-14 on the road, 30-24-1 against the spread and 28-27 with the over.

The Grizzlies are putting up 113.2 points per game on offense this season while shooting 47.3 percent as a team. Defensively, Memphis gives up 114.7 points per game while opponents shoot 45.4 percent against them. Ja Morant is leading the Grizzlies with 17.7 points and 7.0 assists per game. Jaren Jackson Jr. is adding 17.1 points and 4.7 rebounds per contest.

Lakers rolling into break

Los Angeles has won three straight coming into tonight’s game, including a 120-116 win over Denver in OT last week. The Lakers are now 41-12 on the season, 18-7 at home, 28-24-1 against the spread and 27-26 with the over.

The Lakers are solid on both sides of the floor. They average 114.7 points per game while shooting a league-best 48.8 percent from the field. Defensively, L.A. gives up just 107.3 points per game while holding opponents to 44.6 percent shooting. Anthony Davis is leading the team in scoring with 26.6 points per game to go along with 9.2 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per contest. LeBron James adds 25.0 points, 7.8 rebounds and 10.8 assists per game.

NBA Betting Trends

Memphis

The Grizzlies have covered the spread in five straight games on no rest and in seven of their last eight following a loss.

Los Angeles

The Lakers are 4-1 against the spread in their last five when their opponent scored 100 points or more in their previous game.

Prediction:

Memphis has a pretty impressive resume when playing back-to-back. They have won their last five in this scenario, but definitely have their hands full with the Lakers. Los Angeles is the top team in the West and they have been winning by wide margins pretty consistently. This is a big spread, but Los Angeles is well rested while Memphis had a hard-fought game in Sacramento last night. I don’t think the Grizz have the experience to overcome the Lakers and LeBron tonight. Memphis has the young legs, but I don’t think they will be able to play composed enough to be competitive tonight.

NBA Prediction: Los Angeles Lakers -11
