Public Betting Trends

According to the latest oddsmakers, the Rockets are favored on the road, as they are getting odds of -10 points against the Warriors. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 234 points. The public betting currently has 78 percent going on the Rockets as the road favorite. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our NBA Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.

Rockets going small

Houston has opted to go with a small lineup by trading away Clint Capela and not making a deal for another center at the deadline. The Rockets are coming off a 116-105 win at home over Boston before the deadline. Houston is 34-20 on the season, 15-12 on the road, 26-28 against the spread and 31-23 with the under.

The Rockets are putting up 118.2 points per game on offense this season while shooting 45.1 percent as a team. Defensively, Houston is allowing 114.5 points per game, while opponents are shooting 46.2 percent from the field. The Rockets could be without Eric Gordon tonight, as he is dealing with a shin injury. James Harden is leading the team with 35.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 7.3 assists per game. Russell Westbrook is adding 27.2 points, 8.0 rebounds and 7.2 assists per contest.

Warriors continue slide

Golden State is coming off a four-game losing streak that culminated with a 112-106 loss at Phoenix before the break. The Warriors are now 12-43 on the season, 7-19 at home, 27-28 against the spread and 30-25 with the under.

The Warriors are putting up 106.3 points per game on offense this season while shooting just 43.3 percent as a team. Defensively, Golden State is giving up 114.7 points per game while opponents shoot 47.5 percent against them. The Warriors traded for Andrew Wiggins, who is averaging 23 points and 4.0 assists per game thus far for the team. Erich Paschall is adding 13.2 points and 4.7 rebounds per contest.

NBA Betting Trends

Houston

The Rockets are just 3-8 against the spread in their last 11 road games and 1-6 ATS in their last seven games as a road favorite.

Golden State

The Warriors are 6-20 against the spread in their last 26 Thursday games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a cover.

Prediction:

The home team has won and covered in both meetings between these two, including a 116-104 win at home for Golden State on Christmas Day as an 11.5-point underdog. The Rockets are going small, but I think that matchup works just fine against the Warriors. Golden State doesn’t have a big lineup either. Houston is going to be able to score with their guards and the Warriors just don’t have much scoring depth or defensive ability. Houston makes me nervous as such a big road favorite, but I think the Warriors should match up well for their new style.

NBA Prediction: Houston Rockets -10
